Full Description
This Practice provides the supplier with requirements for design and manufacture of horizontal centrifugal pumps that are used for water services. Water services include condensate, cooling water, demineralized water, utility water, produced water, treated water, fire water, etc. This Practice includes manufacturing and performance requirements for horizontal centrifugal pumps and their accessories. Pump types covered by this Practice are broadly classified as overhung or between-bearings.
The following pump types are not included in the scope of this Practice:(a) close coupled (impeller mounted on the motor shaft), (b) two-stage overhung, and (c) double suction overhung.
Pumps with service conditions within these limits are covered by this Practice: (a) maximum discharge pressure, 3,500 kPa (500 psig); (b) minimum pumping temperature, 0C (32F); (c) maximum pumping temperature, 150C (300F); and (d) maximum rotational speed, 3,600 rpm.
For services outside these conditions and those that fall within the capabilities of ANSI/ASME pumps, it is recommended that PIP RESP73H be used for purchase of pumps.
