This guideline applies to all vehicles mentioned in Section 1.2 which are used for transporting skips as defined in Section 1.3 for skip loader vehicles. It is intended for the use of consignors, shippers, drivers, vehicle owners, and such persons as the law, ordinances, contracts or other codes of practise make responsible for securing the load and for safe transportation. Their areas of responsibility derive from national regulations, statutory provisions and also from the corresponding legislation and regulations in other countries in the case of international transportation. This guideline does not apply to transportation by rail, inland waterways, sea or air, which will be covered by separate guidelines or standards. For this reason, means of securing loads which are demonstrably equivalent or which provide better load securing can also be used. The present guideline is based on guidelines VDI 2700, VDI 2700 Part 2, Part 3.1, Part 3.2, and Part 4. It deals solely with the securing of skips on skip loader vehicles. According to the requirements formulated in guideline VDI 2700, Section 3.7.3 ff, the load inside the skip must be adequately secured.
