More info

The guideline describes the beginning storage and loading/unloading techniques and the constructional variety of marketing tank farms. Vessels as well as loading/unloading data are listed in tables. Furthermore, the guideline presents emission control technologies for storing mineral oil products with fixed-roof tanks including internal floating covers, tanks with floating roofs, vacuum/pressure valves and tank coatings. Special attention is drawn to any exceptional steps to be taken for emission reduction in pipings, at filling means of transport and during cleaning processes. Emission description includes especially loading and unloading of mineral oil. Apart from emission standards of vapour recovery plants and combustion plants (loading of Otto fuel) detailed information is also given about emissions occurring during transportation of mineral oils through pipings and via sealing systems in pumps, shut-off and control fittings as well as flange connections. Furthermore the determination of emissions is described in a detailed way. Since emission measurements take a lot of time, it is recommended to determine emissions by using formulas and emission factors. The formulas are quoted with derivatives and detailed calculation examples. Reference is made to the relevant solid waste, waste waters and waste heat in the final section.
