The standard describes how vibrations occurring during the operation of machines, systems or vehicles can be reduced so that they no longer have a negative impact on the machine, the process and the environment. The aspects considered include, for example, the health and the sense of comfort of people as well as the technical function of the machine or plant. The standard also describes the methodological basis of active vibration reduction and explains important terms. First, the basic concepts and mechanisms of action are described. Based on the modular structure, into which a system for active vibration reduction can be divided into subsystems, assemblies and components, practical hints for the design, implementation and verification of effectiveness are given. In addition, terms are defined and the boundary conditions and interfaces to be clarified within the framework of a system specification are described. By means of application examples from different branches of industry, the standard shows how the practical implementation can take place.
